On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you? Chances are you didn't answer 10, but you probably didn't bottom out either... which is a good thing. Happiness is pretty much the meaning of life. It's what we strive for; why we buy unnecessary products. It's the whole reason Hollywood exists. And we always like to imagine that at some future time, no matter how good things happen to be now, they're going to get better.
So it would be a little disheartening to learn that no matter how much you pursue it, your happiness has an upper limit that's determined by your genes. Luckily, research is constantly changing the landscape when it comes to our emotions.
