It's been featured on the Simpsons and X-Files... in other words, it's amazing and versatile.

"It" is the Coriolis effect; the appearance of a force that causes water to drain in a clockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and counter-clockwise below the equator... when there are several thousand gallons of water involved.

This could be the next entry into the Annals of Improbable Research, but I'm taking my toilet to Equador to look for the straight flush.
