Cephalopods like squid, octopuses and cuttlefish are seriously cool. Octopuses (not octopi btw) are super-duper smart, squid can be gigantic dwellers of the deep and cuttlefish are the masters of camouflage. Just imagine if you could change the color of your skin and the texture – not just a tanning bed and exfoliation either – but every colour of the rainbow.
You’ll likely have to travel to see these guys – they don’t live in the Americas but pretty much everywhere else. The mating displays of the Australian Giant Cuttlefish are one of the most amazing displays of courtship ever observed. It better be, because after spawning the adult cuttlefish die. Talk about going out with a bang.
